The History of le Tour de Femme

Since our beginning in 2006, Grab My Wheel has managed to raise over a million dollars for the fight against cancer. The majority of our funds raising comes from our signature event, le Tour de Femme. The remaining funds come from various jobs that Grab My Wheel members do in order to raise money for our beneficiaries.

October 8, 2022

In 2022, we had about 250 registered riders. It was a beautiful day and fantastic ride. We proudly donated $30,000.00 to the UNC Healthcare Cancer Fund and another $30,000.00 to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund!

October 9, 2021

In 2021, we had close to 300 registered riders. Due to flooding roads, the ride portion of the event was sadly cancelled. Even still, over 150 people joined us for a celebration lunch that day. We proudly donated $30,000.00 to the angel fund and another $25,000.00 to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund!

Our fifteenth anniversary year was one for the books as the world navigated the Covid pandemic. In 2020, le Tour de Femme was a virtual event where 175 amazing participants made it possible to donate $18,000.00 to BOTH the Rex Hospital Angel Fund and the Kay Yow Foundation.

In our fourteenth year, ridership increased to 257 registered riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel donated to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund $30,000.00, and gifted the Kay Yow Foundation $20,000.

In our thirteenth year, and the first year starting from our new location, 210 registered riders, through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel donated to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund $30,000.00, and gifted the Kay Yow Foundation $25,000.

In our twelfth year, ridership was 210 registered riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel donated to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund $35,000.00, and gifted the Kay Yow Foundation $30,000.

In our eleventh year, and first hurricane, ridership was 275 registered riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel donated to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund $35,000.00, and gifted the Kay Yow Foundation $20,000.

In our tenth anniversary year, and first rainy year, ridership was 330 riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel equalled the 2014 giving to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund with a $50,000.00, and gifted the Livestrong Foundation $20,000.

In our ninth year, ridership reached record levels with 405 riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel increased the total giving to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund with a $50,000.00, and gifted the Livestrong Foundation $20,000.

In our eighth year, ridership was at 306 riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel equalled giving to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund with $30,000.00, and gifted the Livestrong Foundation $25,000.

In our seventh year, ridership was at 354 riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel increased the total donations from 2011, giving the Rex Hospital Angel Fund $30,000.00! and gifting the Livestrong Foundation $25,000.

In our sixth year, ridership was at 309 riders and through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel matched donations from 2010 to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund to $30,000.00! Likewise, Grab My Wheel gifted the Lance Armstrong Foundation $20,000.

In our fifth year, ridership increased to 365 female riders. Through fundraising, private donations, corporate sponsorships and entry fees, Grab My Wheel increased donations from 2010 to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund to $30,000.00! Likewise, Grab My Wheel gifted the Lance Armstrong Foundation $20,000. Both amounts are the highest to date.

October 10, 2009

In 2009, Grab My Wheel donated a total $42,000.00 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund. In 2009, rider participation in the le Tour de Femme reached the 268 rider mark!

october 11, 2008

In 2008, Grab My Wheel donated a total $37,000.00 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund. In 2008, rider participation in the le Tour de Femme reached over the 200 rider mark and had 7 different states represented!!!

october 27, 2007

In 2007, Grab My Wheel donated a total $32,000.00 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation and to the Rex Hospital Angel Fund. In 2007, rider participation in the le Tour de Femme more than doubled. There are now almost 30 dressed members of the Grab My Wheel.
